A spokesman for the Moscow Automobile Plant, which is separate from the French company “Renault”, announced that the plant plans to start producing national electric cars.
The prototype of the Russian electric car “Kama-1” was prepared. A pre-production model car, or rather a prototype, appeared in December 2020. The website of the “Petersburg University of Technology” reports that the new car was designed at the university’s computer engineering center in collaboration to the Russian company “KAMAZ” for freight vehicles.
It is a rear-wheel drive car equipped with an electric motor that produces 109 horsepower and a lithium-ion battery that produces 33 kWh. There are two power sockets for charging: the first for normal charging and the second for quick charging.
Experts say that after 30 minutes of charging, they provide an opportunity to get enough energy to walk a distance of 100-120 km. In the case of a full electric charge cycle, the vehicle can travel 250 km in winter and 300 km in summer. A 4-seater car is 3 meters and 40 centimeters long.
Its designers said that if there were no additional devices such as a tablet built into the steering wheel, wireless charging and other functions, it would cost 1 million rubles (about $ 17,000).
