This Sunday, maritime authorities rescued a woman who was unconscious in the sea, on the beach of Barranco das Belharucas, in Albufeira, after being transported in serious condition to hospitalannounced the National Maritime Authority (AMN).
The 45-year-old victim “allegedly fell unconscious in the water” and was dragged from the sea to the sand by bathers, receiving first aid from “nurses who were on site” and then be transported by the National Institute of Medical Emergencies to the hospital, the AMN said in a statement.
The authorities received the alert “due to a drowning situation” at 12:36 p.m., through the Lisbon Maritime Search and Rescue Coordination Center (MRCC Lisboa), and sent elements from the Albufeira Maritime Police post and the Project “Sea Watch‘”.
The woman was “rescued, in an unconscious state, to the beach by people who were nearby” and was “quickly assisted by nurses who were on the scene, until the arrival of lifeguards from the adjacent beach and the elements of the INEM, who began the resuscitation maneuvers, in collaboration with the elements of the Project”Sea Watch‘”.
“The victim was later removed from the beach by elements of the Project”Sea Watch‘”, using a vehicle, added the AMN, noting that the woman was later transferred in an ambulance from the Albufeira Fire Department, “in a very serious condition, to a hospital unit”.
