Russia is building an airport for helicopters

An airport for drones (Fertopport) may appear in Russia in the third quarter of next year.

It is the construction of a station that will serve small UAVs that carry all kinds of loads.

This was announced by engineer Nikolai Ryashin at the “Ironnext” Russian Scientific Research Society on the sidelines of the “Technoprom-22” forum, which is currently being held in Novosibirsk, Western Siberia.

The engineer said that Vertuport as a station for the maintenance of drones is a new project for the company Dronoport Airport, adapted for the maintenance of electric unmanned helicopters.

We are confident that we will launch our new product in the third quarter of 2023.”

The engineer explained that the drone airport will replace the electric helicopter’s batteries and its batteries will be charged by a group of robots to keep the helicopter flying.

In addition, the airport is equipped with an automatic system to obtain the take-off permit for helicopters.

According to Ryashin, the drones will monitor the airport’s surroundings. For example, it can monitor conditions related to fire outbreaks and monitor the condition of roads, oil and power lines.

He said the next stage is the construction of established airports that can also be used for the maintenance of large drones, as they provide areas for loading and unloading cargo, replacing batteries and refueling.
