Japanese farmers recommend watering their crops with vodka!

The weather has not been pleasant for farmers lately. Global warming causes heat waves regularly.

As a result, drought continues around the world, resulting in shallow rivers and lakes. Drought and heat are killing crops everywhere. Therefore, the price of agricultural products and the risk of hunger increased.

Using resources from the RIKEN Center, the Japanese proposed an unexpected method that could save the crop and keep it growing over time.

If the soil is pretreated with a solution of ethyl alcohol, Russian vodka, or Japanese sake, it is possible to make wheat and rice grow naturally with almost no water, and this method has surprisingly helped scientists and 30, who recently has published an article in the journal Science. Plant and cell physiology.

An agronomist says that pretreatment of crops with ethanol greatly increases grain yield. He said: “Alcohol appears to change the way genes work.

It regulates the metabolic chain that controls the response of plants to drought.

The Japanese were surprised by their latest discovery after realizing that many plants have started producing ethanol molecules themselves to combat water shortages. And scientists decided to examine how alcohol works from the outside.

Agricultural engineers first conducted experiments on the typical Arabidopsis plant, waiting for its seeds to germinate and watering it with an alcoholic solution. For the next two weeks, there was absolutely no watering to simulate the drought and the plant survived.

Scientists have conducted similar experiments on wheat and rice crops. The result was that 75% of the grains treated with alcohol survived dehydration.
