The Eastern Military District of the Russian Army has received a set of new “Tor-M2” air defense systems as part of Russia’s defense reservations.
The spokesman of the Russian Ministry of Defense said that the system belongs to the new generation of air defense vehicles. It is quite effective when encountering air strike aircraft in conditions of intense radio-technical impact, artillery fire and enemy missiles.
Tor systems are designed to protect infantry units and formations from winged missile attacks, hovering bombs, and destruction by drones, aircraft and helicopters, including stealth aircraft.
The system can work in both manual and automatic systems. It can also engage several dozen targets at once.
The modern Tor-M2O air defense missile system is distinguished by its ability to destroy air targets from all directions, thanks to circular tracking elements, a guidance station and vertically launched air defense missiles. Such components allow the combat vehicle to conduct reconnaissance on the move over any terrain and destroy air targets after a short pause of only 3-5 seconds.
The system can detect air targets and engage them with radar at a range of 30 km and simultaneously targets 4 air targets at an altitude of up to 10 km.
