Analysis shows that Telegram messenger downloads have doubled in the past three years.
Meanwhile, WhatsApp, its main competitor app, is losing steam. This was reported by “Forbes” magazine, citing the data provided by Sensor.
A study by Sensor Tower showed that Telegram had more than 30 million downloads in the first three quarters of 2019 and nearly 60 million downloads in the first three quarters of 2022.
However, WhatsApp is losing popularity in Europe: In 2019, the Messenger program was downloaded 110 million times, while in 2022 the number of downloads will not exceed 60 million.
BFM also notes that while Telegram is not yet the leading messenger in terms of total downloads, the study describes Telegram as the “fastest growing social network” in three years. The main reason for this dynamic is that WhatsApp has a serious problem with updates and innovations, while Telegram is actively developing its own platform and offers features that attract new users such as Telegram Premium. Telegram has earned a reputation as a secure and private platform.
According to some estimates, by 2023, Telegram will be the second fastest growing app in the world after TikTok.
