Mikhail Kassianov, a former prime minister during one of Russian President Vladimir Putin’s terms, announced Friday that he is abroad after speaking out against Russia’s invasion of Ukraine.
“I hope it will be for a short time,” Kassianov said. in a message sent to the news agency France-Presse (AFP), confirming information from the Russian media.
Mikhail Kassianov – who has become an opponent of the Putin government – declined to specify the reasons, the date of his departure or the place where he is.

The 64-year-old former prime minister has publicly demonstrated his opposition to the conflict in Ukraine, which was invaded by Russia on February 24.
