Where is the transphobia? LGBT Charity Survey Finds Only 4% of Brits Fear Transgender and Gay

Despite ongoing accusations of transphobia, a survey by LGBT association Stonewall found that British people are extremely tolerant of homosexuality and transgenderism, with only four percent of respondents reporting a fear of transgender or gayness.

A joint study conducted by Opinium and the UK’s largest LGBT charity of over 2,000 people found that the public is more likely to express respect or admiration, rather than fear or disgust, to people who identify as gay, lesbian, bisexual. or transgender.

The survey, published on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of Pride month in the UK, showed that only four percent of the population “feared” LGBT people and less than 10 percent associates with “disgusting” in this group. nine percent for gay men, eight percent for transgender or bisexual people, and just seven percent for lesbians.

Conversely, more people choose the words “respect” or even “admiration” in relation to the group: 38 percent of respondents said they respect lesbians and gays, and 37 percent, and about one-third more, are bisexual or transgender. However, trans people scored highest for “admiration” (21%), compared with 19% for lesbians and gays and 16% for bisexuals.

Although the survey separated the survey results by sex, age and UK region, it did not include the race or ethnicity of the respondents.

The results contradict the ongoing claim that the UK is a transphobic or homophobic country, and even the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE) earlier this year compared the UK to Islamist Turkey and Russia for LGBT rights.

While the poll suggests the UK is an absolutely tolerant country, Stonewall CEO Nancy Kelly has pledged to continue the so-called fight for equality.

“Every struggle for the rights of the LGBTQ+ community for the last 50 years has been fought both in public and in the corridors of power… These data remind us how far we have come and how far we have to go. . go,” said the Stonewall chief underground.

The report also urges people to continue taking a stand against the minority who disagree with the far-left charity’s views on gender and sexuality.

“Fifty years after we first walked the streets of London, we still stand proudly before a vocal and intolerant minority,” the report said.
