The Spanish newspaper El Pais, citing government sources, reported that Spain was preparing to supply Ukraine with heavy weapons, including anti-aircraft missile systems and tanks. She noted that Spain is ready to “change the paradigm” in military support for Kyiv.

She explained that Madrid previously supplied Kyiv with ammunition, personal protective equipment and light weapons, but is now ready to switch to the supply of heavy weapons. Spain also offered Ukraine a German A4 Leopard tank.

According to the publication, the Spanish Ministry of Defense is already completing the delivery of short-range anti-aircraft missiles Shorad Aspide to Kiev. In April, Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez reportedly said during a press conference in Kyiv that he had sent 200 tons of ammunition, military equipment and vehicles to Ukraine.

Western countries began to supply Ukraine with a large number of weapons even before the start of the Russian special operation, including anti-tank missiles. Recently, heavy equipment has also been supplied, in particular tanks, howitzers and MLRS.
