The website of the Russian Ministry of Construction, Housing and Utilities appears to have been hacked.
According to a State Department spokesman, late Sunday, the official RIA news agency quoted a ministry spokesman as saying the site was “inactive” but that users’ personal information was “protected”.
The agency said other media outlets had reported that hackers were seeking ransoms to prevent users from disclosing information.
Since the start of Russia’s military offensive in Ukraine on February 24, several Russian state-owned companies and news organizations have made sporadic attempts to infiltrate.
Infiltrative attacks in early May changed the list of satellite TV channels in Moscow on Victory Day, as Russia celebrated the 77th anniversary of the Soviet Union’s victory over Nazi Germany.
The Independent Ukrainian News Agency reported on Sunday that the broadcast of a football match between the national teams of Ukraine and Wales via the Internet has been temporarily hacked.
