Syrian President Bashar al-Assad received a joint delegation of the Russian Federation and the Donetsk People’s Republic headed by Deputy Dmitry Sablin, head of the Russian side in the Syrian-Russian Parliamentary Friendship Committee, and Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Donetsk Region Natalia Nikonorova.

The delegation briefed Assad on the situation in the Donbass region and the latest developments in the Russian special military operation to protect the civilian population in the region from crimes committed by Nazi extremists there, as well as the ongoing efforts to return the population to their cities after the situation in many areas began reconstruction.

The members of the delegation reaffirmed their desire to strengthen relations with Syria in all areas and raise their level, as the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Donetsk Republic Assad conveyed the message of President Denis Pushilin on this framework of the Donetsk Republic to the political level.

Al-Assad congratulated the members of the delegation on the liberation of most of the Donbass, emphasizing that Russia and Syria are fighting one battle against one enemy, and terrorists and neo-Nazis, namely the United States, are on the same side.

Al-Assad believed that the main and biggest battle is against the policy of hegemony pursued by the West, which considers itself the center and wants to rule the world in accordance with its interests, therefore, countries that assert their sovereignty should build strong relations with each other in such a way to strengthen their positions and seek the interests of their people.

Members of the delegation noted the importance of economic cooperation with Syria and the interweaving of cultural ties with the Syrian people, especially since what people in the Donbas live and what they fight for is similar to what the Syrian people live, because Western countries use weapons of illegal sanctions and sieges to strangle the economies of countries beyond its control.
