The Czech presidency of the Council of the European Union (EU) plans to organize, in Prague, a first meeting of the new European Political Community (EPC), which will bring together the Member States and other European partners, it was announced this Friday.
“The European Council held a strategic debate on the EU’s relations with its partners in Europe, including the proposal to launch an EPC”, in the rotating presidency of the Czech Republic of the Council of the EU, from July 1 to November 31. December, according to the conclusions of the second day of the EU leaders’ meeting.
“We intend to define its specific scope later,” European Council President Charles Michel told a news conference at the end of the EU summit, adding that the meeting would take place “after the summer.” .
The objective of the CPE is “to offer a platform for policy coordination for European countries throughout the continent”promoting “political dialogue and cooperation to address issues of common interest in order to improve the security, stability and prosperity of the European continent”.
EU leaders met in Brussels at a European Council dominated by the granting of candidate country status to Ukraine and Moldova.
