The US Treasury Department sanctioned other Russian institutions and individuals, including Russia’s largest defense company, the state-owned Rostec company, dozens of Russian defense industrial bases, 19 Rostec board members and nine adult family members.
On Tuesday, US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken announced a Ukrainian citizen who had been illegally appointed mayor by Russia.
Blinken also noted that the State Department has imposed sanctions on 45 entities and 29 individuals under Executive Order 14024.
This includes appointing a non-Russian entity to provide financial support to a sanctioned Russian entity that specializes in supplying materials to Russia’s defense industry.
“The State Department also identifies Russian military units that are credibly involved in human rights abuses or violations of international humanitarian law, as part of our commitment to promoting accountability for crimes in Ukraine,” Blinken said.
The State Department also announced that the Ministry of Foreign Affairs for 511 Russian military officers for threatening or violating the sovereignty, territorial integrity or political independence of Ukraine, including officers serving in Zaporizhia and Mariupol, areas where war crimes are being reported. Has increased, visa restrictions have been imposed.
The State Department also imposed visa restrictions on 18 Russian citizens for cracking down on dissent, including politically motivated arrests.
The Treasury Department’s Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) has identified 70 entities, many of which are critical to Russia’s defense base, as well as 29 individuals under Executive Orders 14024 and 14065.
Blinken also noted that OFAC has banned the import of gold from the Russian Federation to the United States, and that President Biden has increased tariffs on more than 570 groups of Russian products worth nearly $ 2.3 billion.
