President of the International BRICS Forum Purnima Anand said that “Turkey, Egypt and Saudi Arabia may join the group very soon”, explaining that “China, Russia and India discussed this issue during the 14th BRICS Leaders Summit, which took place virtually from 23 to 24 June.

In an interview with the Izvestia newspaper, she noted: “All these countries have shown interest in joining and are preparing to apply for membership. I believe that this is a good step, given that such an expansion is always perceived positively, and it is clear that this will increase the influence of the BRICS in every country,” the scientist believes.

Anand expressed hope that the process of joining the group will happen very quickly, “since all representatives of the main countries of the group are interested in expanding the organization. So it will be very soon.” She stressed that the accession of Egypt, Saudi Arabia and Turkey will also happen quickly, because this process has already started. She stated that the accession could not be done at the same time.
