At FNC Your World on Friday, former Energy Secretary Rick Perry denied the validity of the Biden administration’s efforts to encourage oil-rich Saudi Arabia to produce more oil than it currently does.
Perry told host Neil Cavuto that he suspected the Saudis were “doing their best” at such a high price.
“Well, I think the Saudis are doing their best with $100 in oil,” he said. “They know this – the wealth created in the oil fields and they – I think so – they are very close to the production limits like other OPEC countries. The more unfortunate part of what President Biden did is that he empowered countries like Iran not only by bringing them back to the Iran nuclear deal, but also by allowing them to sell millions of barrels of oil and replace the coffins they used. States and our allies in this part of the world against the United States.”
“So I think it’s an optical thing for him,” Perry continued. “And the Saudis will not lower the gas price. And that’s what this president is worried about. He worries about what’s going on in every country across the country where gas prices are rising, inflation is rising, a recession is imminent, and people look at his policies and think it’s your fault.”
