The Iranian presidency released the final statement of the trilateral summit, which brought together Iranian President Ibrahim Raisi, his Russian colleagues Vladimir Putin and Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan in Tehran on Tuesday.

The Presidents reaffirmed their “strong commitment to the sovereignty, independence, unity and territorial integrity of Syria, as well as to the purposes and principles of the Charter of the United Nations, and stressed the need for these principles to be respected throughout the world and their determination to continue working together.” to combat terrorism in all its forms and manifestations. It is different in different regions of Syria,” and pointed to “the need for the full implementation of all agreements relating to the north of Syria.”

The Presidents underlined their “rejection of all attempts to create new facts on the ground under the pretext of combating terrorism, including illegal self-government initiatives”, and expressed their “determination to resist separatist schemes aimed at undermining the sovereignty of Syria and the territorial integrity and threaten the national security of neighboring countries.” Through attacks and cross-border penetration, as well as the determination to continue their continued cooperation in order to eliminate all terrorist groups, institutions and organizations, while ensuring the protection of civilians and civilian infrastructure in accordance with international humanitarian law, stressing that there can be no military solution to the Syrian conflict and that it cannot be resolved except through a political process led by the Syrians and facilitated by the United Nations.”

The Presidents pointed to “the need to facilitate the safe and voluntary return of refugees and internally displaced persons to their places of origin in Syria and guarantee their right to return, and we call on the international community to contribute to their resettlement.” and take greater responsibility for burden-sharing and development of recovery projects and basic infrastructure, especially water, electricity and sanitation, health care, education, schools and hospitals.

The presidents condemned “the continuation of Israeli military strikes against Syria, stressing that these strikes violate international law, the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Syria, destabilize and increase tensions in the region.”

Following the summit, the presidents agreed to send their representatives to prepare for the nineteenth international meeting on Syria in the Astana format by the end of 2022, when it was decided to hold the next trilateral summit in Russia at the invitation of Putin. .
