Interfax quoted Russian Deputy Prime Minister Andrey Belousov as saying that “Moscow will not supply oil to world markets if a price ceiling is set.”
Earlier in the day, Russian President Vladimir Putin said “there is a real risk that Nordstream 1 could be shut down due to maintenance issues,” questioning the quality of repairs to Nord Stream turbines due to be returned from Canada. He pointed out that “one gets the impression that the West is simply unable to present the world with a specific model of the future”, noting that “at the national and global levels, there are foundations for a more secure, fair and socially oriented world order as an alternative to the current system.”
On June 16, the Russian Gazprom announced that it was reducing gas supplies to Germany via the Nord Stream 1 gas pipeline by more than 40% per day due to the fact that it did not receive the necessary equipment from the German company Siemens.
