A man on the French S-File terrorist watch list was arrested in Marseille over the weekend after he swung a large knife and threatened locals and passers-by on the street.
Ali B., 27, wearing traditional Islamic men’s clothing known as Dcellaba, was arrested after threatening several people with a 12-inch kitchen knife around 8:00 pm on Saturday night in the 14th district of Marseille.
Eyewitnesses said the man was praying in public when the police arrived and soon began threatening the police with a knife in his hand. Officers approached the man and used a stun gun to neutralize him, BFMTV reported.
According to the channel, the man whose file S is on the terrorists list is also known for previous cases of attempted murder by the police of a government official.

After the man was taken into police custody, he was taken to a local hospital for treatment and psychiatric evaluation of the injuries resulting from his arrest.
This is not the first time a radicalized Muslim with a knife has threatened or actually attacked local residents and police in France this year.
In May, a man was arrested in Chantilly after he stabbed a woman in the neck who had picked herself up while hitchhiking and allegedly yelled “Allah Akbar” during the attack.
According to investigators, the man stabbed her to death after escorting her to the hotel and refused to give her a room because she did not have the necessary documents.
“For reasons not yet determined, the same man may have physically assaulted the girl with a knife in the neck,” the local prosecutor said.
