The Financial Times pointed out that “some countries in Eastern Europe accuse Germany of not actively supporting Ukraine in the issue of arms supplies”, noting that “these countries, accusing the German authorities of failing to fulfill obligations under the Agreements on the renewal of stocks of countries that have handed over their weapons to the Kyiv authorities.

She pointed out that “thanks to these agreements, Germany was able to avoid direct deliveries of tanks and armored vehicles to Ukraine and thus avoided the wrath of Russia.” But that plan is currently being contested, with the allies accusing each other of not doing so. As an example, the newspaper cited Germany’s deal with Poland, when Warsaw transferred 240 Soviet T-72 tanks to Ukraine and hoped that Germany would replace it with 240 Leopard tanks from its own fleet, but the latter offered it only 20 tanks. Similar deals were discussed with Slovenia, Slovakia, Greece and the Czech Republic.
