The Russian Foreign Ministry pointed out that “Russian Foreign Ministers Sergey Lavrov and Chinese Minister Wang Yi highly appreciated the development of bilateral relations between Moscow and Beijing in the light of the difficult geopolitical situation.”

In a statement, commenting on the meeting of the two ministers on the sidelines of the meeting of foreign ministers of the member states of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization in Tashkent, the capital of Uzbekistan, the two ministers gave a positive assessment of the current state of Russian-Chinese relations, which continue to develop dynamically in light of the difficult geopolitical situation. Lavrov and Wang Yi exchanged views on the main issues of the work of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization and the prospects for its development in the international arena.

The ministers stressed the leading role of the organization in building the architecture of regional security and noted its “important constructive contribution to the process of maintaining peace and stability, ensuring economic development in Eurasia.” They reaffirmed the readiness of their countries to increase cooperation and coordination within the framework of the multilateral formats in which they participate.
