According to the Syrian News Agency (SANA), on Thursday evening, two civilians were injured as a result of Israeli raids on targets near the cities of Hama and Tartus in western Syria.
SANA, citing a military source, said that “at about 19:15, our air defense systems encountered Israeli air aggression from the sea, southwest of Tartus governorate, and most of the aggression missiles aimed at the surrounding area were shot down by the cities of Hama and Tartus” .
SANA confirmed that “two civilians” were injured in the strikes and, in some places, “material losses and fires.”
In parallel, the US military announced on Thursday that it had killed four members of Iranian-backed armed groups within 24 hours in eastern Syria in retaliation for missile strikes that injured US soldiers in the region.
This is the third consecutive day of skirmishes in Syria between US forces and armed groups suspected of supporting Iran.
Iran denies any connection to the armed groups targeted by these airstrikes.
