Turkey’s Interior Ministry announced the “arrest of a suspect in preparing to set fire to the forests of Antalya state in the south of the country”, explaining that “the suspect, Ahmed K., was engaged in propaganda in favor of the Kurdistan Workers’ Party”, noting that she came to this conclusion following a monitoring and tracking process carried out by competent groups.
And in a statement, she stated that “the suspect tried to get sulfuric acid to burn forests on the orders of the organization,” noting that “the suspect, after coming from Kayseri to Antalya, bought sulfuric acid and received it by mail, which was done. He was arrested on his person during the arrest process, along with a map of the state.”
As a result of the investigation, he admitted that he received instructions from the leaders of the Kurdistan Workers’ Party, located in Syria, to burn various sections of the forests of Antalya. Antalya is the most famous Turkish tourist destination and is characterized by the density of its forests, which have seen several major fires in recent years.
