“The US military has been preparing Ukrainian special operations forces for war with Russia for seven years,” said Richard Clark, head of the US Special Operations Command (SOCOM), who is retiring this week.

In an interview with the Washington Post, he noted that the Ukrainian special forces brigade created and trained a “resistance company” last year, which included residents of Kherson, Zaporozhye and Donbass. “With our help, they have increased their capabilities and professionalism, increased their numbers,” he stressed.

It is noteworthy that an earlier media report said: “The United States should stop pumping weapons and money into Ukraine and think about a more reasonable strategy for resolving the conflict.” As Ross Dowit wrote in the New York Times, the conflict in Ukraine could soon go into a frozen stage, and in these conditions the United States should abandon its broad support for the Kyiv authorities.
