The heart of D. Pedro returns this Friday afternoon to Porto, after having been part of the commemorations of the bicentennial of the independence of Brazil, being exposed over the weekend in the Church of Lapa until it is stored.
Brazil marked this Wednesday the bicentennial of its independence from Portugal, in an act that was attended by the President of the Republic, Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa, and the Assembly of the Republic, Augusto Santos Silva, and with the heart of D. Pedro IV, who in August, on a flight that also included the president of the municipality of Porto, Rui Moreira, went to Brasilia to be present as a memory and tribute to the first king of Brazil.

The flight that returned the heart to the city left Brasilia on Thursday night, with a stopover in Recife and Cidade da Praia, in Cape Verde, being arrival at Francisco Sá Carneiro airport scheduled for 12:40reported the Chamber of Porto.
The municipality will take advantage of the move to Porto for a second exhibition at the Irmandade da Lapa, in the Saturday, at a time to be determined, and Sunday between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m., Being the Free entry.

At the end of the exhibition, the guard ceremony will take place. of D. Pedro’s heart, with the mayor “heading this solemn moment and, himself, guarding the heart with five keys, before depositing the urn in the mausoleum,” reports the municipality.
This ceremony is scheduled for 4:30 pm and includes a musical note in the Monumental Órgão de Tubos, with interpretation of works by JS Bach, Marcos Portugal and D. Pedro IV.
At the same time, in another room of the brotherhood, the exhibition “D. Pedro IV: A heart, a testament”, which contains documents and historical objects on the passage of D. Pedro through the city of Porto, adds the municipality.
