Israel announced that it has crossed the Syrian border

The Israeli army announced that Israeli forces crossed the Syrian border today and shot 4 people who “threw projectiles at the border fence” and wounded one of them.

While Israel frequently conducts airstrikes inside Syria, it rarely publicly acknowledges conducting operations overseas.

The Israeli military said in a statement that “reconnaissance soldiers spotted four suspects” near Khosfin in the Golan Heights, without providing information on the nature of the projectiles.

The statement adds: “The soldiers of the Israeli army shot one of the suspects in the legs and were dispatched to the border crossing and conducting the operation.”

The wounded suspect, whose critical condition is unknown, was “taken by helicopter to a hospital” in Israel, the military said, without specifying the fate of the remaining three.

Israel rarely comments on its military operations inside Syria, except in direct response to what it sees as a direct threat to Israeli sovereignty.

However, the Israeli government has admitted to conducting hundreds of airstrikes in Syria targeting sites belonging to the Syrian regime and Iranian-backed forces since the country’s civil war began in 2011.
