Russian presidential envoy to Afghanistan Zamir Kabulov said that the agreement between Russia and Afghanistan on the supply of fuel, gasoline, liquefied natural gas and grain has been agreed in principle.

The Russian official said in a statement released by the Novosti Agency that “the parties are now discussing the details of the deal,” stressing that “a preliminary agreement has been reached on this matter.”

Earlier, US media quoted the Acting Minister of Trade and Industry of Afghanistan, Haji Nureddin Azizi, that “the Taliban signed an interim agreement with Russia for the supply of gasoline, diesel fuel, gas and wheat to Afghanistan.”

As part of the deal, Russia will import about a million tons of gasoline, one million tons of diesel fuel, 500,000 tons of liquefied natural gas and two million tons of wheat annually, Azizi said, declining to provide details on prices and payment methods. but he stated that “Russia has agreed to offer a discount compared to world markets for goods to be shipped to Afghanistan by road and rail.
