The Sunday Times reported on Saturday evening that King Charles III will not attend the COP 27 conference scheduled for November in Egypt after Prime Minister Liz Truss objected to his participation.
The new king, an environmentalist who had just succeeded his mother Elizabeth II, was scheduled to address the climate summit (November 6-18), according to the British newspaper.
But in a personal meeting with the king at Buckingham Palace in September, Terrace thwarted and challenged his intentions.
This information comes at a critical time for the prime minister, who took office less than a month ago, as the country is in turmoil following his budget announcement.
Some worry that TRACE will backtrack on its climate change commitments.
Last week’s introduction of a bill to amend or repeal hundreds of environmental laws inherited from the EU by the end of 2023 was the last straw.
The Terrace government also includes many ministers who are skeptical about carbon neutrality, as stipulated in the Paris Agreement.
According to “Sunday Times”, the Prime Minister will not participate in “Cup 27” in Sharm el-Sheikh.
