The DPRK Foreign Ministry said that Pyongyang supports the annexation of part of Ukraine announced by Russia, accusing the United States of applying “double standards” when interfering in the affairs of other countries.

Cho Chul-soo, director general of international organizations at the Foreign Ministry in Pyongyang, said the referendums were legal under the United Nations Charter, but that the United States was practicing “double standards” after it invaded other countries to preserve its “sovereignty”.

“In order to maintain an undisputed unipolar world, the United States is interfering in the internal affairs of independent countries and violating their legitimate rights by abusing the UN Security Council,” Cho said in a statement released by the Korea Central News Agency.

He emphasized that “the US has launched aggressive wars against sovereign countries, including the former Yugoslavia, Afghanistan and Iraq, but the Security Council has not held the US accountable.”

Joe said the Security Council would face consequences if it followed Washington’s “authoritarian and arbitrary actions and acts of double standards and prejudice.”
