Russia shoots down 33 Ukrainian drones and accuses kyiv of trying to carry out “terrorist attacks”
Russian anti-aircraft forces shot down a total of 33 Ukrainian fixed-wing drones over four Russian border regions early this Sunday, the Ministry of Defense reported.
“An attempt by the kyiv regime to carry out terrorist attacks with fixed-wing drones against targets on Russian territory was aborted,” said that Russian government department.
According to the Ministry of Defense, 28 drones were “intercepted and eliminated” in the Bryansk region, two in the Smolensk region, two in Lipetsk and one in Tula. The existence of victims is unknown.
Ukrainian forces periodically attack Russian border regions and the annexed Crimean peninsula with the aim of damaging Russian oil infrastructure and military targets, with Friday being one of the most massive attacks since the start of the war, involving a total of 113 drones.
The General Staff of the Ukrainian Army stated today that the air force, in cooperation with other military components, “successfully” attacked the command post of a Russian motorized rifle brigade, located in Nekhotiivka, in the Belgorod region.
