Iran warned, through diplomatic channels, that it is preparing a military response against Israel with “more powerful” weapons, in retaliation for the Israeli attack on Iranian military facilities, The Wall Street Journal reported.

The news, published on Sunday, cites information from an Egyptian official.

Israel’s airstrike against Iran on October 26 killed five people and shook Iran’s strategic air defenses, leaving the country greatly exposed, the American newspaper claimed.

Israel has so far avoided attacking Iran’s nuclear and oil facilities, essential to the country’s economy and security, but that could change, Israeli officials said.

An Egyptian official said Iran had privately warned of a strong and complex response. Our army lost people, so they have to respond,” said an Iranian official, who was not identified by the newspaper.

He also added that Tehran could use Iraqi territory as part of the operation and would likely attack Israeli military facilities “much more aggressively than last time.”

Iran does not intend to limit its response to missiles and drones, as happened in the two previous attacks, and any missile used may have more powerful warheads, Iranian and Arab officials said.
