  • Russia rejects the attack on Moscow by more than 30 Ukrainian drones

The Russian army’s anti-aircraft forces today repelled a Ukrainian drone attack in the Moscow region, shooting down at least 32 planes heading towards the Russian capital, according to the mayor of Moscow.

“So far, 32 drones flying towards Moscow have been shot down,” Mayor Sergey Sobyanin said on Telegram.

According to the Spanish agency EFE, the explosions began to be heard around 8:30 a.m. local time (5:30 a.m. in Portugal) south of the Russian capital, as a result of anti-aircraft fire and the impact of drones.

The drones were shot down over the neighborhoods of Ramenskoe, Domodedovo and Kolomna and forced the temporary closure of the Domodedovo international airport and the Zhukovsky civil and military airfield.

Sheremetyevo International Airport, north of the capital, also limited its operations.

Previously, the Russian Ministry of Defense reported that 23 drones had been shot down over Russian territory during the night: 17 over the Bryansk region, three over Rostov, two over Belgorod and one over the Kursk region, partially occupied by the Ukrainian army since last August. .

The attack comes as Russia hosts diplomats and senior officials from some 50 African countries in the southwestern city of Sochi for a ministerial conference.

Russia reports shooting down Ukrainian drones over its territory almost daily, but they rarely target the Russian capital.
