The cancellation of a concert hall in Minneapolis, a show by the famous American comedian Dave Chappelle, whose jokes are seen by some as insulting to transgender people, has become controversial in the US, because conservatives considered it a violation in free speech.

And the First Avenue showroom announced the cancellation of the show last Wednesday, hours before the sold-out concert. “The Dave Chappelle Show at First Avenue has been canceled and moved to the Varsity Theatre,” the venue’s management wrote on Instagram.
He added, “We’re telling our staff, artists, and community that we heard you and we’re sorry for what happened. We know we should live by the highest principles, and we know we let you down. We are not just a dark hall that welcomes the masses.”
On the other hand, a large number of conservative figures expressed regret at this decision, believing that it fits into the framework of the “culture of abolitionism.”
The head of the conservative organization Judicial Watch, Tom Fitton, condemned the incident, noting that this decision was a victory for the “totalitarian left”, according to Agence France-Presse.
Dave Chappelle has been accused of “spreading transgender hate” through jokes he made on multiple shows.
Controversy erupted in October on the US streaming platform Netflix following its The Closer presentation, where Chappelle said that “the existence of humanity is a fact,” because his critics were “very sensitive.” He continued: “In our country, you can shoot a black man, but no one dares to insult a gay man.”
