The Egyptian Ministry of Finance decided to raise the customs dollar price to 18 pounds and 64 piastres in negotiations today, Wednesday, June 1, 2022.
The price of the customs dollar rose from 17 pounds for trade in May to 18.64 pounds for trade on Wednesday, according to instructions sent by the Ministry of Finance to the Customs Authority.
In early May, the Egyptian Ministry of Finance decided to raise the customs dollar price to 17 pounds, as the exchange rate to be used when importing goods from abroad, from 1 per month until the end of May. .
The price of the customs dollar was set at 16 pounds, as it was re -priced by Egypt on March 22nd.
A few years ago, under the direction of the current Minister of Finance, Mohamed Maait, the government stopped setting customs rates for the dollar and other currencies, leaving the issue linked to the exchange rate in banks, supply and demand.
An increase in the customs dollar price will raise the prices of goods imported from abroad, because imports are traded in dollars.
