Musical. Portuguese music production platform raises 2.8 million euros

TO start up The Portuguese company Musiversal, which manages an online platform that provides access to recording sessions for music production with the possibility of collaborating with artists and technicians in real time, closed a three million dollar (2.8 million euro) investment round. The financing was led by the Private capital Iberis Capital and had the participation of Lince Capital and Shilling, which had previously invested in the company.

André Miranda, co-founder and CEO of Musiversal, adds that the financing “will help the company to have a go to the market more aggressive” for “acquire new clients, mainly in the United States,” and will also allow for the implementation of “new services on the platform.”making the “subscription more valuable” for those who pay for it. It was last year that the start up launched the Musiversal Unlimited subscription service, which costs 186 euros per month, to allow subscribers unlimited access to professionals such as mixing engineers, composers and producers.

Asked by Observador about the “new services” that Musiversal intends to offer, André Miranda simply said that they will serve to “help music creators make more and better music, with more ease and better quality.” Even so, he chose not to go into further details, as he intends to keep it secret until July 27, the day on which the news will be officially presented at an event in Lisbon.

the platform of start up The Portuguese, who logs more than 300,000 minutes of music sessions a month, has tripled the number of subscribers in the past 12 months. The company wants, the CEO tells the Observer, to repeat the feat and triple the number of users again over the next yeargoing from a total of 1,000 to 3,000.

Musiversal was founded in 2018, having been born from an idea that André Miranda had when he was living in the United States. Currently, it has around 80% of its clients in this country. In the future, the focus will remain on this market, which “has a super strong music industry and also has incomes per capita appropriate”.

The investment round announced this Wednesday by Musiversal, which has a team made up of 18 office workers and 75 musicians (on the platform), comes after the 2021 start up having raised 1.36 million euros in funding. According to André Miranda, in 2022 the company also closed a “very small round”, which was not publicly disclosed. “It was not news because it is not worth advertising,” says the leader of the music production platform, who does not share data on the amount of this investment.
