Starting this Saturday, Marvila, in Lisbon, will once again be an open-air gallery, with the return of the public art exhibition Cartel, which counts among the guests the singer Carolina Deslandes, the painter Paula Rego and the photojournalist Mário Cruz.
In what is already the 7th edition of the Poster Mostra, ‘posters’ by artists “as diverse as the painter Paula Rego (in collaboration with the National Museum of Contemporary Art in Chiado), the singer Carolina Deslandes, the cartoonist and humorist Hugo Van der Ding, chef Filipa Gomes, artist Graça Paz, painter Cristiano Mangovo (Galeria Insofar), Li Alves from Poetry Slam, photographer Mário Cruz, musician Noiserv and fado singer Sara Correia, among others, in a group of 20 invited artists”.
The guest list also includes the architecture studio Fala Atelier, the photographers Vitorino Coragem, Diana Sousa, Cecil Beaton, Luciano Carneiro and Ricky Dávila, the visual artists Sobral Centeno + Nuno Centeno and Micaela Fikoff, the visual artist Cristina Viana and AVO hat shop.
In addition to the ‘posters’ of the 20 invited artists, the exhibition also includes ‘posters’ created by the winners of two ‘Open Call’ (contest open to the public) -ten who won the ‘open call’ with a free theme and seven chosen in the ‘open call’ that invited “to delve into the rich iconographic heritage of the Sandeman brand”.
Today, in addition to the opening of the exhibition on the walls of Marvila, there will be a party and a guided tour at 5:00 p.m., starting at Praça David Leandro da Silva and continuing along Rua do Açúcar, to Rua Capitão. Leitao.
The program starts at 4:00 pm, at the Clube Oriental de Lisboa, with the inauguration of the exhibition of ‘posters’ by all the participants in this year’s ‘Open Call’, “a record participation of 224 works”.
The party is divided between Cerveja Lince and Dois Corvos, where at 19:30 there will be a concert on Monday.
The Posters exhibition is a project of the Department, an entity that defines itself as “amplifier of culture, which curates and develops projects for brands, sponsors, patrons, public and private entities.”
