Former UN ambassador Nikki Haley on Thursday approved Clark County Sheriff Joe Lombardo, representing America’s PAC, as governor of Nevada.
“Joe Lombardo is the only candidate who can defeat Steve Sisolak and ensure the safety and well-being of the people of Nevada,” Haley said. “As governor, he will always support gays, fight for parents in the classroom, and respect the taxpayer’s wallet. Nevada needs a new sheriff and Joe is the right person for the job.”
Lombardo was “honoured” to have Haley’s endorsement for his efforts to oust Nevada Democratic Governor Steve Sisolak.

Lombardo said:
I am honored to receive the endorsement of Ambassador Nikki Haley today. A staunch defender of American values and an exemplary governor, Nikki Haley is an honored leader and I am honored for her support of our campaign. Steve Sisolak has ruined the lives and livelihoods of Nevada’s citizens with his lack of vision and direction, but I am ready to restore the trust, leadership, and accountability of the governor’s office. As governor, I will protect our communities and families by protecting the way we live in Nevada.
Haley joins former President Donald Trump in his support for Lombardo for governor.
Despite the support of prominent Republicans such as Haley and Trump, the Nevada Republican Party is backing Lombardo’s rival, Joey Gilbert, in the run for governor.
But the latest polls showed Lombardo lead Gilbert by 20 points.
Haley’s support came days after the state began voting early on May 28. The Nevada Republican primary will be held on June 14.
