New demands for wealth transfer through US and EU “climate reforms”

The call for dead tax in the US and European countries aimed at shifting wealth to economies facing “the costs of drought, floods and hurricanes worsened by rising temperatures” was repeated Wednesday at a UN climate conference in Germany.

If the so-called “loss and damage” condition is heeded, developed and successful countries will have billions of dollars in decades or even centuries.

The BBC reported that the promise of poor countries to be compensated for the damage caused by the emissions of the richer countries will be fulfilled this year. They doubt that they will create new money for the “effects of climate change” that they can no longer adapt to.

Respondents from developing countries say that the impact of the climate on their countries is more severe than in rich countries, and therefore, as in previous calls, they should be on the verge of significant financial changes.

“We’ve been living with loss and damage for the past 25 years,” said Adriana Vazquez Rodriquez of La Ruta del Clima, an environmental group in Costa Rica.

“We have families who have lost their homes, their crops, their lives, and nobody pays, we’re running out of resources, and we’re also deeply in debt.”

Young climate activist Greta Thunberg has previously said that the West owes countries in the Global South to drastically reduce their carbon emissions because of their colonial legacy.

Developing countries argue that the climate change they are facing is due to historic carbon emissions in wealthier countries, according to the BBC report.

They said that Europe and the USA must now pay for these losses and damages.

This isn’t the first time the thriving economy has demanded compensation or special concessions for climate refugees.

Officials at the COP25 UN climate change conference in Madrid in 2019 heard the same call, according to Breitbart News.

At the time, green groups said that “increasing the speed and severity of climate disasters” meant that more funding was needed to keep up.

At this conference held in Bonn, Germany, climate activists surpassed diplomats from 200 countries to demonstrate their position.

“Poor countries betray rich countries. “The EU, the US and other countries are preventing the process of losing and damaging funds,” said Tasneem Essop of CAN International.

“We are very disappointed with what happened at the talks in Bonn,” he said.

The amount claimed by activists for loss and damage caused by developed countries will exceed $300 billion per year by 2030.
