Shouldn’t a raped child have an abortion? “I’m for life”


The deputy and leader of Juventude do Chega, Rita Matias, accuses the new leader of the PSD, Luís Montenegro, of “lack of courage” by not naming Chega when he attacked the party, something that, ironically, he says he did not expect from someone who had “claimed the title of muscular opposition”. In an interview with the Vichyssoise program of Rádio Observador —two days after the Chega ao Governo motion of censure was rejected— Rita Matias admits that the instrument was not used to bring down the Executive, but rather to have “the entire Government sit in Parliament to justify the options” he has taken.

As to whether the motion was a way of trying to win the opposition race, Rita Matias says with “possible humility” that Chega already leads the opposition (despite having 11 deputies and the PSD 77). He also says that he “would not use” the same expression that his bench colleague, Bruno Nunes, used to refer to the PAN leader (“It is a beautiful flower and one day a cow comes and eats it”), but he confesses that it was fun .
