Russian football clubs have filed an appeal with the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) against the decision of the European Football Association (UEFA) following their expulsion from continental competitions.

CSKA Moscow said in a statement: “We inform you that our club, along with three other clubs in the Russian Premier League, Zenit (St. Petersburg), Dynamo (Moscow) and Sochi, filed an appeal with the Lausanne Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) against UEFA Football’s decision of May 2, 2022 to exclude Russian clubs from European competition.

The club’s statement added: “All clubs have requested a speedy review of the complaint. We hope that sporting principles will be respected. CSKA aims to play in European competitions and we will fight to the end for first place in the league. Applying before the end of the season is subject to strict deadlines for appealing some EU decisions within 10 calendar days.
