While MLB legend Pete Rose was in Philadelphia for the team’s 1980 championship celebration on Sunday, he got a little pissed off when a reporter resurfaced accusations that he had sex with an underage girl in the 1970s.
To celebrate the Phillies’ big season with the press, sportswriter Alex Coffey asked whether his “presence” at the celebration was “a negative message for women.”
Charlie Hustle, who was banned from Major League Baseball in 1989 for gambling allegations, said, “No, I’m not here to talk about it. I am sad. That was 55 years ago baby.”
I asked Pete Rose what she would say to those who say that her presence here gives negative signals to women. His reply: “No, I’m not here to talk about it. I am sad. That was 55 years ago baby.”

Commenting on the allegations in more detail, Rose said, “I will tell you again. I’m here for the Philadelphia fans. I’m here for my friends. I’m here for the Phyllis organization. And who cares what happened 50 years ago. You weren’t even born. That’s why you shouldn’t talk about it because you weren’t born. If you don’t know, don’t talk.”
How did Coffey say that Rose admitted to having sex with a girl she said was 16 when the relationship started? The age of majority in Ohio is 16, and Rose said they’ve never met for sex outside of Buckeye State.
However, the female accuser claims she was only 14 when they met and disputes the alleged location by stating that she was dating Rose for out-of-state sex during their romance.
The Phillies intended to induct Rose into the Hall of Fame, but these plans were canceled due to the woman’s allegations.
The team also considered including Rose in the celebration this weekend in July, and team officials asked players and staff if they had any issues inviting Rose to the celebration, and said it was appropriate — it should be part of the celebration, he said. . They also pre-approved the MLB invite.
“As we planned to reunite in 1980, we consulted with Pete’s teammates about including him,” the Phillies said. aforementioned In a statement in July. “Everyone wanted Pete to be a part of the celebration because without him there wouldn’t have been a trophy in 1980. In addition, the club obtained permission from the commissioner’s office to invite Pete to the championship team.
The team added that they understand that there may be critics of Rose’s inclusion in the celebration.
“We do not condone, condone or forget Pete’s behavior,” a team spokesperson said. “We understand that some people were critical of our decision to include Pete. We understand the basis of this criticism, because when the allegations were made public just six days before Pete’s scheduled inauguration, it prompted us to withdraw Pete’s participation in the Phyllis Wall of Fame immediately. It’s an honor, and for the Phillies, his past behavior off the court has overshadowed the baseball achievements that would otherwise have led to this award.”
Rose was a key player on the 1980 Phillies team that won the World Series in six games against the Kansas City Royals. In his five years with the team, Rose had .291 hits with eight homers, 255 RBIs and 390 runs. And he’s still the leading batsman in Major League Baseball, with 4,256 hits in his 24-year career between the Cincinnati Reds and Phillies.
Rose’s new critique got a lot of attention on social media:

When I was a kid, I thought it was unfair that Pete Rose was banned from events like the 1980 Phillies convention for gambling.
In the end, I realized that he was just an idiot. (Moreover, he sent the women OWN negative message). What a rough explanation. https://t.co/CCRWrYyt6U

Can Pete Rose bet he’ll be a total jerk now? https://t.co/TcE8tkcPfp

Pete Rose is very rude.

I have no idea why the Phillies chose to die on Pete Rose Hill. All it does is drive away a large part of its fan base and tarnish the organization’s reputation. https://t.co/EXwXeG5DD9

When you thought Pete Rose couldn’t be more obnoxious, he manages to exceed your expectations. Another, Mr. Hustle: Since you weren’t born when something bad happened, you can’t ask now. https://t.co/23Vo3B2sr1

Strange behavior to protect Pete Rose like these freaks do…
Pete Rose had sex with a 14-year-old girl who was a boy in her late 30s, pleading “I thought I was 16”.
