US Open: Venus and Serena Williams with ‘wild card’ for doubles tournament

Venus and Serena Williams received an invitation to play the US Open doubles tournament, the fourth and last ‘Grand Slam’ of the year, which should mark the farewell of their younger sister.

Venus, 42, and Serena, 40, won the New York ‘major’ in pairs in 1999 and 2009, without having played this role again since 2014.

In total, the North American sisters accumulate 14 titles of ‘Grand Slam’ in pairs.

Earlier this month, Serena Williams announced her intention to end her glittering career of 23 Grand Slam titles, including six at Flushing Meadows.

The probability of saying goodbye to the US Open is great, at a time when the former world ranking leader is still in 410th place in the hierarchy, with the entry into competition, in the singles tournament, scheduled for Monday, ahead of The Montenegrin. Danka Kovinic.

The US Open will be played between Monday and September 11, in New York.
