The Asian Football Confederation (AFC) has confirmed the choice of Kuwait to host Group H matches of the Asian Under-20 Championship qualifying tournament in Uzbekistan in 2023.
The group matches were originally scheduled to take place in Basra, Iraq, but will now take place from 14 to 18 October at Jaber International in Kuwait.
Also, the Australian team, which had previously announced its withdrawal, was returned to participate in the group, in accordance with the decision of the Competition Committee of the Continental Confederation.
The Australian Federation announced last August that it was formally pulling out of the Asian Youth Qualifiers to be held in Basra following the attack on the Australian legation in Baghdad.
The eighth group includes Australia, India, Iraq and Kuwait.
It advances to the Asian Youth Cup final to be held in Uzbekistan from 1 to 18 March next year, placing first in each group along with the top 5 teams that finished second in ten groups.
