The beaches of Caxias, Santo Amaro de Oeiras and Paço de Arcos in the municipality of Oeiras have been prohibited for swimming since Friday, after water quality analyzes revealed microbiological values above the reference parameters, the Authority revealed. National Maritime.
The same entity reported that the beaches of Doña Ana, in the municipality of Lagos, and Zambujeira do Mar, in Odemira, were also prohibited for bathing after the Portuguese Environment Agency (APA) concluded that the water was “ inadequate”.
According to the National Maritime Authority (AMN), the analysis of the water quality carried out by the APA revealed “microbiological values above the reference parameters, with the water not suitable for bathing” in the five beaches.
After the APA advised against going swimming at these beaches, the AMN gave instructions, this Friday, to raise the red flag and place signs at the accesses to the respective beaches “to warn about the prohibition of going to the bathrooms ”. According to the maritime authority, the ban will remain in force “until the results of the new water quality analyzes indicate that the microbiological values are within the reference parameters.”
On the APA website, regarding the Administration of the Tagus and West Hydrographic Region, this week there were prohibitions on bathing in the bathing waters of Constância, municipality of Constância and in Areia Branca and Areia Branca (Foz, municipality de Lourinhã), in das Avencas and Moita, Duquesa, Tamariz, Poça, Conceição, S. Pedro do Estoril and Rainha, Cascais, since the 16th, due to inadequate microbiological results of water quality.
