The local prosecutor of Nice, Xavier Bonhomme, tweeted on Twitter that a former soldier of the Ukrainian armed forces attacked two refugees from Ukraine in the city of Roquebrune-Cap-Martin, near the city of Nice, all of the participants were Ukrainian citizens who mistook the incident for Russia.
The story began when two women of Ukrainian descent filed a complaint with the Menton Police Commission on September 12, about the violence done to them in Roquebrune-Cap Martin the previous day.
He also explained to the police that during his interrogation, the victims told the Nes Matin newspaper that the attacker was Russian and that the attacker had beaten them for listening to a Ukrainian song containing anti-Russian slogans, but it was later discovered that the suspect is a former Ukrainian soldier.
According to the prosecutor, he will face up to 3 years in prison and a fine of 45,000 euros.
At the same time, the French security forces did not report the arrest of a Ukrainian instead of a Russian citizen, while Oleg Nikolenko, the press secretary of the Ukrainian Foreign Minister, demanded that the perpetrator of the “disgust- disgusting incident” that it was found.
