Former NATO Secretary General advises Biden to avoid a disastrous war in the Middle East

Javier Solana, who previously served as NATO Secretary-General, said US President Joe Biden should intensify efforts to restart the nuclear deal with Iran.

In a joint article with former Swedish Prime Minister Carl Bildt for the “Washington Post”, Solana stressed that otherwise “a new catastrophic war” could begin in the Middle East.

The report stated that measures taken by U.S. authorities, such as the declaration of terrorists in the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps or the U.S. Senate’s decision to include non -nuclear issues in the nuclear agreement, would prevent the resurgence. of the agreement. On the contrary, Washington’s allies in Europe are doing their best to find a diplomatic solution to the issue to prevent another catastrophic war in the Middle East.

“Therefore, it is surprising that Biden, who has announced that he will return to the nuclear deal in the election, continues to suppress diplomacy, which is strongly supported by his allies,” the article said.

The article referred to the West for its own national security when dealing with arms control in the Soviet Union, not out of a desire to support the Soviet leadership or improve relations with Moscow.

Solana and Bildt decided that Biden should seriously consider his passivity in Iran as risky and find a way to get back to the nuclear deal with Iran-“otherwise, we will have another completely unnecessary conflict.”
