Israel’s Shin Bet security service has defeated a Hamas terrorist cell made up of Palestinians from East Jerusalem planning attacks on high-profile targets, including hawk Knesset member Itamar Ben Gvir.

Five people were arrested for planning to shoot Ben Gvir, as well as kidnapping Israeli soldiers and organizing a suicide attack in Jerusalem. Authorities also seized a drone intended to be used as a weapon in the attack on a tram in Jerusalem.

Rashid Rashek, the cell leader from the Old City of Jerusalem, was described by authorities as a “leading” Hamas militant and was also responsible for mobilizing Hamas supporters to revolt on the Temple Mount during the holy month of Ramadan. Muslims “to destabilize the situation.” The Temple Mount and Jerusalem.

Ben Gvir reacted to Shin Bet’s statement by blaming the “left” as well as Prime Minister Naftali Bennett and Foreign Minister Yair Lapid of the Hamas conspiracy.

“The letter is on the wall. The provocation of the Left against me and the statements of Bennett and Lapid against me did their job, and it turned out that the terrorist group was planning to harm me and my family,” he said.

“Words can kill!” Added.

Last month, Bennett forbade Ben-Gvir from walking to the Damascus Gate in the Oldtown for fears it could cause chaos.

Hamas leader Ismail Haniyeh warned Israel this week not to allow right-wing Israelis to hold their annual “Flag Parade” next week in Jerusalem’s Old City to mark Jerusalem’s Day, which falls on Sunday.
