“The Swiss Federal Customs is currently checking the validity of the import of 3 tons of gold from Russia in May last year and checks the supplies for their compliance with the sanctions regime imposed on Russia,” RIA Novosti reported.

And the Bloomberg agency, citing the Swiss Customs Administration, previously indicated that Switzerland began importing gold from Russia for the first time since the winter, and it was reported that 3 tons of gold had been delivered to Switzerland since May. The Swiss association of producers and traders of precious metals AFCMP said that none of its members have recently imported gold from Russia and that none of the country’s major refineries have accepted Russian precious metals.

The customs statement said: “The Federal Office for Customs and Border Security (BACS) is constantly monitoring the situation with gold imports from Russia, as about 3 tons of gold of Russian origin worth 194 million Swiss francs (over $ 200 million) are imported into Switzerland from the United Kingdom while the agency is investigating relevant imports subject to applicable sanctions.
