Therefore, it may be an attempt to take advantage of the New Jersey tax code, which states that cemeteries are exempt from paying taxes, fees and assessments. Cemetery businesses are also exempt from any real estate taxes, fees and assessments, or personal property taxes on their land, as well as business, income, or inheritance taxes.
According to Business Insider, Donald Trump had been planning for at least a decade to build a cemetery next to the golf course.
