Egyptian Finance Minister Mohamed Maait confirmed that his country continues to provide for the needs of citizens in wheat, edible oil, petroleum products and all food products.

He indicated that intensive measures are being taken to manage basic commodities in light of the global crisis affecting Egypt and the world, noting that the Egyptian government imports 6 million tons of wheat, the same as the private sector imports a total of 12 million tons. million tons.

The Egyptian minister pointed out that the value of this large amount of wheat is $3 billion and as a result of current world prices rising to $6 billion, noting that the budget deficit is 8.2%, and in the current fiscal year it is 6.1%. and Egypt is smaller than the markets. Stressing that his country aims to have a budget deficit of 4.5% over the next three years, just like developed countries.

Maite believed that world markets were turbulent and costs were rising, which negatively affected the prices of all goods.
