Britain’s late Queen Elizabeth II wrote a “secret” letter to the citizens of Sydney, Australia, which was hidden inside one of the city’s most famous buildings, but would not be read until 63 years later.
The British newspaper “Daily Mail” reported that the Queen Victoria Building in Sydney’s business district contains a secret message from Elizabeth II, adding: “There are strict instructions not to open it until 2085.”
The Queen wrote the letter after the building underwent major renovations in November. Even his staff don’t know what he wrote.
The letter is in a glass case and only the Queen’s instructions can be seen from it.
The instructions read: “To the Mayor of Sydney, Australia, please open this envelope on a convenient day of your choosing in 2085 and deliver my message to the citizens of Sydney.”
The death of Queen Elizabeth, 96, on Thursday, after 70 years on the throne, sparked deep grief and warm praise around the world.
